Alex Canales is a portrait and lifestyle photographer based in sunny Los Angeles, California. He studied public health and photography at California State University, Northridge. Alex found his interest in photography when he began snapping portraits of his brothers. When in college, he reconnected with his love for photography and began to learn analog and digital photography.
Alex began to work with an arts education non profit as a teaching assistant and mentor. He loved being able to arm kids with a skill that allowed them to express their identities, individuality and spirit through a photograph. That passion would lead Alex and his good friend Ivette to create a non-profit called Parallaxe. Parallaxe implements beginning photography workshops in Germany for teens of war-torn countries.
As a photographer, Alex aims to capture the complexities and beauty of his subjects. He believes in everyone’s inner beauty, talent, and story. His goal is to create strong, inspiring and dynamic photographs.
